John Stokes becomes Chairman of the Board of OSMO
John Stokes appointed Chair of the OSMO Foundation Board of Directors
On January 1, 2023, it was announced that John Stokes, Managing Partner of Real Ventures, is taking on the role of Chair of the OSMO Foundation Board of Directors. Anne Martel, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Element AI, is taking on the role of Vice-Chair.
Alan MacIntosh, who has served as Chair for the past 12 years, remains as a regular member of the Board.
Both Alan and John were the founders of the OSMO Foundation and Notman House and both continue to work passionately to achieve the vision and mission of the organization.
Here’s what they had to say about the change:

I am excited to announce that as of today I am taking over the role of Board Chair at Fondation OSMO, most well known as the not for profit that owns Maison Notman House.
The Foundation’s previous Chair, Alan MacIntosh, has dedicated so much to the organisation since it’s founding in 2010, and we will have a special celebration to acknowledge his contribution in the coming weeks. I’m also very pleased that he will continue to support the Foundation as a Board Member.
I’m also excited to share that Anne Martel, MBA, ICD.D will take the role of Vice-Chair.
I’m very much looking forward to working even more closely with Annie-Claude Devriese and her amazing team in delivering on the Foundation’s mission and vision.
I would also like to thank the rest of the OSMO Board, Louis-Francois Hogue , Claudine Blondin, ICD.D , Philippe Telio , Michael Denham (and Clarence Epstein ) for their ongoing engagement and contributions, and look forward to collaborating with them as we grow OSMO’s and Notman House’s impact on our startup ecosystem.

Many thanks for your kind words, John! The renaissance of Notman House as a beacon for entrepreneurial collaboration has been a true passion project for both of us since your original idea and the creation of the OSMO Foundation in 2009. From the outset, Le Projet Notman was embraced by the community, as an asset for the community, in so many wonderful ways including the remarkable crowdfunding campaign in 2012.
In addition to echoing John’s thanks to the board, a big heartfelt shout out to our formidable leaders of the last decade: Noah Redler, Emma Williams, Patrick Gagné et Annie-Claude Devriese.
I know you and Anne Martel, MBA, ICD.D, working closely with Annie-Claude Devriese, have exciting plans for 2023 and beyond and look forward to helping as an active board member!
